El tratamiento y control de la apoplejía involucra enormes compromisos de tiempo y personal. Después de tratamiento quirúrgico y/o medicamentos, el objetivo del tratamiento cambia hacia la rehabilitación.

Tener una apoplejía cambiará drásticamente su estilo de vida. Pero los cambios son tan variados que no se pueden predecir incluso después del evento agudo. Usted se podría recuperar completamente de una apoplejía días, semanas, o meses más tarde. Una apoplejía lo puede dejar permanentemente dañado o los efectos podrían ser mínimos. Los días y semanas después de su primera apoplejía serán un mundo completamente nuevo para usted, un mundo de trabajo difícil para recuperarse y volver a entrenar cualquier función de la que lo privó la apoplejía (habla, caminar, uso de un brazo o pierna) y redirigir su vida para que pueda sacar el mayor provecho de sus capacidades restantes.
