Patient and Visitor Info

MidState Medical Center’s Board of Directors and Governors are pleased to honor Margarete Stanchick for her tireless efforts in healthcare. Originally from Germany, she served as an interpreter to American troops during World War II and came to the United States as a war bride. She began her healthcare career as business manager of the Meriden Visiting Nurse Association in 1970.

In 1980, Margarete became a volunteer in the hospital Gift Shop, and upon her retirement in 1981, joined the Auxiliary. She has served as President of the Auxiliary, Chair of the Gift Shop Committee, and member of the Board of Governors and Development Committee. She has been an active and vibrant part of the Auxiliary Board of Directors for the past 25 years and has donated close to ten thousand hours to date as a hospital volunteer and Auxilian. She has been especially altruistic in her financial support to the hospital and is a source of solid leadership, sage advice, timeless energy and genuine devotion to the hospital, Auxiliary, and staff.

Margarete has also well served the community. When her two daughters were young, she actively participated in their school PTAs, Brownie, and Girl Scout troops. She has been a member of many community boards of directors.

MidState Medical Center is pleased and honored to present the 2006 Crystal Obelisk Award to Margarete Stanchick as the epitome of selfless volunteerism.
