Otolaryngologists perform surgeries on the ear, nose and throat. Sinus surgery, one of the most common procedures performed in this discipline, is often needed to correct issues related to sinusitis and the removal of nasal polyps. In this type of surgery, medical instruments are inserted into the nose endoscopically, rather than by cutting external structures. Equipped with cameras, these instruments let the surgeons use real-time, 3-D images to guide them through the nasal passages, making for a safer, more precise procedure and better outcomes. This minimally
invasive technique is also much more comfortable for the patient than traditional procedures.
