Programs and Services

MidState offers a wide range of support programs to help our patients and others in our community overcome the health-related challenges they face and assist in their return to wellness. They often positively impact not only the individuals seeking help, but also their families and caregivers. MidState is proud of its holistic approach to healthcare, believing that body, mind and spirit are all powerful contributors to our well-being. Our support programs are one way we ensure that the mind and spirit are not forgotten. Please view our calendar of events for dates.
MidState’s support programs include the following:

The Cancer Center
Afternoon Breast Cancer Support Group "Bosom Buddies"
Support group of cancer survivors helping other cancer survivors alleviate the fear and anxiety that comes with a diagnosis of breast cancer.

Art Therapy
Bimonthly classes led by a certified art therapist in which cancer patients can explore and express their emotions through various artistic mediums. Patients do not need special art skills, just a desire to participate in this therapeutic process.

Cancer Survivorship Clinic
Explore information about physical, social, emotional and spiritual questions that may arise after cancer treatment is completed. Coping methods and integrative therapies are also discussed.

“LOOK GOOD…FEEL BETTER”®
Designed to educate and instruct women undergoing cancer treatment, featuring a licensed cosmetologist to provide supportive techniques on skin, makeup, and hair care. This is a free, non-medical, product-neutral program offered in partnership with the American Cancer Society, the National Cosmetology Association, and The Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association (CTFA) Foundation, a charitable organization supported by the cosmetic industry.

Leukemia/Lymphoma Support Group
Support is available for patients and families dealing with the unique challenges of these diseases. Join other patients who have been diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease, and Multiple Myeloma. Caregivers are welcome.

Women's Cancer Support Group
For women diagnosed with breast or gynecological cancers, this group can provide great emotional support and strength.

Hispanic Breast Cancer Support Group
This group is designed specifically for Hispanic women who have been diagnosed with cancer. It also provides help to family members and loved ones. Funded by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Pilates for Breast Cancer Survivors
Following breast cancer treatment, many women fear resuming an active lifestyle. Pilates provides a gentle re-introduction to exercise.

Prostate Support Group
Specifically designed to help men who are diagnosed with prostate cancer and their families.

Diabetes Center
The Diabetes Center Support Group offers individuals with diabetes an opportunity to meet with other people who have diabetes. The first part of the support group includes a 20 minute education topic. The remainder of the group is devoted to the personal issues of the group.

Family Birthing Center
Weekly Breast Feeding Support Group
Join new or experienced mothers and their babies in a relaxed atmosphere to discuss the adjustments and successes of breastfeeding for the 0-6 month age group. Group discussion is open format and facilitated by a Lactation Consultant or Nurse.

Pastoral Care
Bereavement Support Group
This professionally facilitated interfaith group is open to all bereaved members of the community. The purposes of the group are to assist people in understanding grief as a natural response to loss, to allow the expression of feelings, to provide mutual support and to effect appropriate life adjustment to loss.

Weight Management Program
Weight Loss Surgery Support Group
This group is designed with two components: "Open" meetings are available to pre-operative and post-operative weight loss surgery patients and their families. This group offers a wonderful opportunity for pre-operative patients and their families to learn from other bariatric surgery patients; And “Closed” meetings are available to post-operative patients only. This group offers support for experienced bariatric surgery patients.
