Behavioral Health Services
MidState recognizes the importance of offering high-quality addiction and mental health services to patients in Central Connecticut. Working in partnership with Rushford, one of the state's leading behavioral healthcare organizations, we offer a variety of mental health and addiction services specifically targeted to the needs of children, adolescents and adults. Our association with Rushford - which maintains treatment centers in Middletown, Glastonbury, Meriden/Wallingford, Portland and Durham - ensures that a continuum of care will always be close to our patients' home, work or school. Whether you need emergency services, a consultation, an inpatient program or outpatient care, the professionals at MidState and Rushford are here to provide you with the expert care you need.
Treatment Options
Working together with the specialists at Rushford, we provide a variety of different options to match the specific behavioral health needs of our patients. Click on the list of options below for more information:
- Emergency Services
The hospital provides 24-hour emergency psychiatric services. Whenever you need help, the mental health experts at Rushford are available to help match your needs with the appropriate treatment services.
- Consultation Services
When our medical and surgical unit patients, or their families, are in need of assistance, Rushford psychiatrists and mental health professionals are available to provide consultation services.
- Inpatient Program
In collaboration with Rushford, MidState offers a short-term psychiatric inpatient program for adults. Patients admitted to the inpatient program are either referred to us from their community provider (physician or therapist), or are admitted following an assessment of their needs in the hospital Emergency Department. (Occasionally, patients are transferred to MidState Medical Center from other facilities.) All admissions are coordinated to ensure that inpatient treatment is appropriate. A caring staff of doctors, nurses and mental health professionals provides patients with a structured, intensive, individually tailored opportunity to recover and grow. If an individual is at risk of harming himself/herself or others, the focused attention and safety of a hospital setting can make a difference. Together with the patient, the inpatient team develops treatment and discharge plans that support recovery including placement in partial hospital, intensive outpatient, or outpatient and reapse prevention programs.
