MidState offers a variety of both minimally invasive and traditional procedures to surgically treat urologic problems associated with the kidneys, the bladder and the prostate. A partial list of the conditions we treat includes:

  • Kidney Stones

    • One of the more common procedures now performed is called External Shock Treatment. This less invasive treatment allows an acoustic pulse to break up the stone, or stones, with minimal damage to the surrounding area.

  • No Needle/No Scalpel Vasectomies

    • This procedure is a newer, less invasive option for men considering sterilization.

  • BPH (Benign Prostate Hyperplasia)

    • Minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of enlarged prostate are available at MidState. The Greenlight™ Laser treatment, for example, uses a high-intensity pulsing laser light to vaporize prostatic obstructions. Patients enjoy a faster recovery time and a quicker return to normal activity than with traditional treatment.

    Additionally, procedures are available to treat bladder cancers, male and female incontinence, and ureteral stones, which can be removed via laser. For some prostate cancer patients, we also offer robot-assisted surgery via the da Vinci® Surgical System.  Robot-assisted surgery may result in:

    • Less pain and blood loss
    • Fewer complications
    • Less scarring
    • A shorter hospital stay
    • A faster recovery
